Is Weight Loss Surgery Right for You?
STEP 3: Weight Loss Surgery Options
How Effective is Weight Loss Surgery?
In general, weight loss surgery success is defined as achieving loss of 50% or more of excess body weight and maintaining that level for at least five years. Following surgery, most patients lose weight rapidly and continue to do so until 18 to 24 months after the procedure. In our practice, patients follow a comprehensive program and typically lose 75-85% of their excess weight in the first year. More importantly, the majority of them see complete resolution of their associated health conditions. There is no question that our patients see a dramatic improvement in their quality of life.

(Dr. Chiasson's) bedside manner is impeccable and he has an uncanny way
of making you feel like you're the MOST IMPORTANT person in the world to him;
that he would do anything for you he possibly could... Dr. Chiasson is the
BEST doctor I've ever had the privilege
of knowing. He removed my gall bladder
a year after my weight loss surgery and
I entrusted him with my life twice... I am
at goal now... He literally "gave me back
my life!!!" Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are SUPER.
